A Small Dog Named Tiny Needs Emergency Help

Follow our journey as we build a global animal emergency fund — from our earliest efforts to the emergencies we help fund along the way.

On November 24th, a small dog later named Tiny was discovered in a dire state — malnourished, injured, and in desperate need of medical attention. Rescuers acting on a tip from a concerned community member arrived to find her huddled beneath a broken fence, barely able to lift her head. She was severely underweight, dehydrated, and had visible wounds that suggested she had been fending for herself for some time.

The rescuers carefully wrapped Tiny in a blanket and rushed her to the nearest veterinary facility for an initial assessment. The veterinary team quickly determined that her condition was critical. She was suffering from malnutrition, had several infected wounds, and showed signs of exposure to the elements over an extended period. Her small frame — which is how she earned the name Tiny — made her condition even more precarious.

“When we first saw Tiny, it was heartbreaking,” recalled one of the rescuers involved in her recovery. “She was so small and so weak, but there was something in her eyes — a quiet determination to survive. We knew we had to do everything in our power to help her.”

Without Voices was contacted within hours of Tiny’s rescue. After reviewing the details of her case, the organization immediately committed to helping fund her emergency veterinary care. “When we heard about Tiny’s condition, there was no question — we had to help,” said Bruce Stander, founder of Without Voices. “This is exactly the kind of emergency our fund exists to support. No animal should suffer because there isn’t enough money to pay for their treatment.”

Tiny’s injuries required urgent and sustained treatment. The initial costs alone were beyond what the local rescuers could cover on their own. Emergency veterinary care — including wound treatment, antibiotics, fluids, and nutritional support — needed to begin immediately if Tiny was going to have any chance of recovery. Without Voices stepped in to bridge that critical funding gap, ensuring that Tiny would receive the care she needed without delay.

In the days following her rescue, Tiny began to stabilize. She started accepting food — small amounts at first, but enough to give the veterinary team hope. Her wounds were cleaned and treated daily, and she was kept warm and monitored around the clock. The road ahead was long, but the first steps had been taken.

Tiny’s story is a powerful reminder of why Without Voices exists. Every day, animals like Tiny are found in critical condition, and the difference between life and death often comes down to whether emergency funding is available. Without Voices was created to make sure that funding is never the reason an animal doesn’t get the help it needs.

“We believe every animal deserves a chance,” Bruce Stander added. “Tiny’s rescue is just the beginning of her story, and we’re committed to seeing it through. We’ll continue to share updates on her journey as she begins her recovery.”

If you’d like to help animals like Tiny receive the emergency care they need, please consider making a donation to the Without Voices emergency fund. Every contribution, no matter the size, can make the difference between suffering and survival. Together, we can ensure that no animal is left behind when they need help the most.
