We’re pleased to share an encouraging update on Tiny, the small dog who was rescued in critical condition on November 24th. Thanks to emergency funding from Without Voices, Tiny is now receiving specialist treatment at Hillcrest Veterinary Hospital, and the early results have been nothing short of remarkable.
Since arriving at Hillcrest in early December, Tiny has undergone a thorough and comprehensive assessment by the veterinary team. Her injuries, which included infected wounds, severe malnutrition, and the effects of prolonged exposure, required a carefully structured treatment plan. The team at Hillcrest developed a multi-phase approach that addressed her immediate medical needs while also supporting her longer-term recovery.
“Hillcrest Veterinary Hospital has been an incredible partner in Tiny’s recovery,” said Bruce Stander, founder of Without Voices. “Their expertise and compassion are making all the difference, and we’re grateful to be able to fund this level of care through Without Voices. This is exactly the kind of partnership we envisioned when we started this organization.”
In the first week of treatment, the veterinary team focused on stabilizing Tiny’s condition. Her wounds were professionally cleaned, debrided, and treated with antibiotics to combat the infections that had taken hold. She was placed on a carefully managed nutrition plan designed to help her regain weight safely — too much food too quickly could have been dangerous for her weakened system. Intravenous fluids were administered to address her dehydration, and she was kept in a warm, quiet recovery space to minimize stress.
By the second week, the changes were already visible. Tiny had begun eating on her own — small but consistent meals that showed her appetite was returning. Her wounds were healing well, with no signs of further infection. The veterinary team noted that her energy levels were slowly increasing, and she was beginning to move around her recovery area with more confidence.
“The transformation we’re seeing in Tiny is extraordinary,” shared one of the veterinary staff at Hillcrest. “When she first came to us, she was barely responsive. Now she wags her tail when we come to check on her. She’s a fighter, and it’s a privilege to be part of her recovery.”
Without Voices covered the full costs of Tiny’s treatment at Hillcrest, ensuring that finances were never a barrier to her receiving the best possible care. This included not only the direct medical treatment but also the ongoing monitoring, specialized nutrition, and the dedicated time of the veterinary staff who have gone above and beyond in caring for Tiny.
This partnership between Without Voices and Hillcrest Veterinary Hospital is a powerful example of what becomes possible when emergency funding meets expert veterinary care. It demonstrates the core mission of Without Voices — to bridge the gap between animals in crisis and the professional care they need to survive and thrive.
As the weeks have progressed, Tiny has continued to gain strength. She is now eating full meals, has gained noticeable weight, and her coat is beginning to grow back in the areas that were previously damaged. Perhaps most encouragingly, her personality is beginning to emerge. The veterinary team describes her as gentle, trusting, and remarkably resilient — a small dog with an enormous will to live.
“Every time I visit Tiny, I’m reminded of why we do this work,” said Bruce Stander. “She went from the brink of death to a dog who greets you with a wagging tail and bright eyes. That transformation is only possible because people cared enough to donate, and because partners like Hillcrest are willing to go the extra mile.”
We’ll continue to share updates on Tiny’s progress as she moves through the next stages of her recovery. The road ahead still holds challenges, but with the support of Without Voices donors and the expert care at Hillcrest Veterinary Hospital, Tiny’s future is looking brighter every day. Stay tuned for more news on this brave little dog’s journey.
